From Pioneer Journeys
The Unknown Tobago

Exotic, sensuous, vibrant; footpaths high on mountain ridges; crystal clear and delightfully cool river pools. Nobody knows the unknown parts of Tobago as well as your Pioneer Journeys guides--Pat Turpin and Rennison Jack. They will take you to scenic locations, waterfalls, tropical forests, and hidden places for a truly enjoyable experience. While all tours can be customized to fit individual schedules and requirements, four trips have become the most popular on Tobago.

Bloody Bay Rain Forest & Argyll Waterfalls. This 7-hour tour explores virgin rain forest on the old Carib trail in the center of the island. Insect and bird life are abundant amid an exotic and fragile ecosystem.

Man-O-War Bay & Little Tobago. This 8-hour tour, perfect for photographers, covers an old cocoa plantation where bird life abounds. You'll see Fort Cambelton and Flagstaff Hill Lookouts, have lunch at Jemma's famous Tree House Restaurant, and visit Little Tobago Island by boat.

Louis d'Or River Valley & Wetlands. Hike up the Louis d'Or River on this 8-hour tour. Take a cool dip in shaded freshwater pools beneath waterfalls. It's nature at its best, with parrots crying overhead and kingfishers diving for dinner. Keep your eyes open for a cayman!

Bloody Bay Rain Forest for Naturalists & Birdwatchers. Into the Caribbean's oldest declared forest reserve, this tour lasts just over 6 hours and is arrangead specially for visitors with a keen interest in birdwatching. Likely sightings include blue-backed manakins, jacamars, the rare white-tailed sabre-winged hummingbird, and other local species.

Tours are limited to 12 people, with large groups requiring two guides. Prices depend on total size of group, special transportation needs, physical condition of participants, need for translation, and meal choices. Please call for details. Proper attire is required, i.e., rain forest trails require adequate footware and swimming suits/towels are needed for some tours.
