About Fees & Expenses

Let's face it, we're in business to make a living. But that does not mean you're gonna get ripped off! There are two financial aspects to almost every job we take on--

bullet1.GIF (59 bytes)   Fees. This is what we charge for the work we do. Our fees might cover writing text for a brochure, phoning a reporter to offer an exclusive interview with our client, or checking the first sheets off the press when a new catalog is being printed.

bullet1.GIF (59 bytes)   Expenses. These are the out-of-pocket costs we incur on the client's behalf. They might include the cost of printing and mailing a catalog, maintaining a special 800 phone line, or even sending a photographer and two models to Europe for a week-long photo shoot. Some expenses, such as newspaper advertising, provide us with additional modest commissions which might, under some circumstances, be partly rebated to a client.

Every promotion has a different balance of fees and expenses. Sometimes it's almost all expenses, as might happen when we create a one-page flyer for as little as $200, and print 120,000 copies at a cost of $10,000 or so. On the other hand, we might originate a fantastic sales concept that'll earn our client a million bucks, but cost no more to produce than the price of paper to print out the idea. For that client, of course, our fee depends on our judgement of our idea's eventual value.

For clients seeking a long-term commitment of our time and enthusiasm, we'll gladly negotiate a monthly retainer to cover all the work both you and we anticipate. A written contract can stipulate the number of hours included, the kind of work covered, the results expected, or some combination thereof. Our minimum monthly retainer is $1,000.

Special one-time promotion campaigns are commonly budgeted on an individual basis, with written estimates of expenses and fees--along with related artistic concepts--provided in advance for client approval. Our minimum one-time fee for any promotion is $100, plus any expenses required for the job.
